Firestaff Images The following picture are not from a show -- they are very old, taken when I was still learning on the beach in Seattle in the late 90s. ![]() The bandana is not a fashion statement, but rather serves to keep my hair from catching on fire on the off chance that I fuck up. I have seen this happen to other people quite a few times and it is not pretty. The bandana can also serve as a blindfold -- spinning fire staff while blindfolded was my signature act in the now defunct troupe Animated Fusion ![]() ![]() ![]() The previous pictures were taken with very short shutter speeds [1/10th of a second], and I was spinning relatively slowly. I prefer to spin really fast. Some fire performers think that slow and sexy is better, but most of them just say that because its easier to go nice and slow. The only problem with fast is that you run out of fuel MUCH quicker, but hey "The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and you have burned so very very brightly Roy". The next two pics were taken with a longer shutter speed [aprox 1 second] In this one I am doing one-handed flips, a medium speed move. ![]() In this one I am spinning two-handed figure eights, a fairly fast move: ![]() I should probably add some more recent pictures. . . |
