Fire and firedancing:

BurningMan is Mecca for fire performers. This year over 500 firedancers from all over the world made the pilgrimage to be in the fire conclave.

Home of Poi is a good general interest fire art site, with registry and bulletin board which I lurk on and occasionally post to. It also has a shop for prefab equipment.

Here is a cool article on the Seattle fire community from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Friends in the fire community:

Animated Fusion was my fire troupe when I lived in Seattle. Maybe they have updated the website it in the past year. Probably not.

Pyrosutra is a a Seattle based fire troupe. I used to play and practice with some of them. [warning this link leads to adult material]

Cirque de Flambe is a a another Seattle fire group. I used to play and practice with some of their members as well. They have an excellent fire safety page you should read it.

David Wilson is one of the MagmaVOX gang. He and I played and performed a lot together at Burningman. He also happens to be a rather incredible painter.

Wildfire is a Chicago based troupe. I played and performed with them at Burningman.

Firepeach is one of my Portland fire buddies. We practice and perform together all the time.

Firerotica is the website of Ty one of my portland fire people, We do shows together occasionally. [warning this link leads to adult material]

Useful resources:

The On-Line Books Page is the best full text archive anywhere [i.e. free books]. The internet needs more sites like this.

The Online Medieval and Classical Library is THE online source for translations of Icelandic sagas, as well as other Medieval literature. Uber cool stuff.

Project Gutenberg is another excellent source for full text classic literature.

Translate stuff with babelfish.

The Internet Archive, is an archive of the ever changing internet. The Wayback Machine acesses more than 10 billion pages stored in the archives.

Apple Computers, makers of Macintosh. Microsoft is evil, and their products don't work very well.

Twisted things that amuse me:

The Onion is consistently excellent -- some of the best content on the web, or anywhere else for that matter.

NEWS of the WEIRD proves that truth is stranger than fiction.

The I Bleed For This? page is a classic, and one of my personal favorites. [Note: this link seems to be down, but it was so good that I will leave it up as a memorial]

The Church of Euthanasia are the modern prophets of the Malthusian Doctrine -- wonderfully offensive, and disturbingly candid.

The Unabomber Manifesto, is also the product of a deranged but highly intelligent person with too much free time on his hands.

On November 12, 1970 a dead whale washed up on the beach in Oregon. The Oregon Highway Patrol decided to deal with the problem by blowing it up with dynamite. The resulting exploding whale movie is an internet classic, which I first saw in 1994. If you haven't seen it yet you need to. Also, here is a webpage dedicated to it [including links to lower bandwith versions of the movie].

MC Stephen Hawking, gangster rapper extrordinare. Be sure to download the mp3s by E=MC Hawking.

The CIA for Kids homepage. What a disturbingly Orwellian concept.

Do my links bore you? Find something better with Google.
